Before the work commenced, the trees and shrubs were removed and stored to one side to be replanted once the work is completed

All the plants and shrubs were carefully removed and placed in a temporary position while the work progressed

Just before the mini digger started the removal of the garden area

Excavation of the garden area and digging the foundations for the new extension

Constructing the foundations for the new extension to the rear of the house and connecting a new underground pipe for the roof and surface rain water into the drains before the ground is back filled

The foundation block work to the new extension is now completed

The total floor area was covered with a geotextile membrane due to the amount of small roots left in the ground from the plants which we removed, this membrane will stop any roots from growing

30 ton of MOT Type 1 is put in place and compacted in layers of 75mm using a vibrating plate

The final layer of MOT Type 1 hard core being compacted

Timber shuttering is fixed in place so the concrete floor can be poured, due to the size of the floor area it was constructed so the concrete floor rested on the internal block work for additional support

75mm thick kingspan insulation cut to size and placed to the total area of the floor

1200 gage Visqueen sheeting and steel reinforcing in position prior to pouring the concrete floor

Visqueen sheeting was fixed to the wall to stop any splashing when the concrete is being placed in position

The concrete floor being levelled with an aluminium straight edge and checked using a laser level

The concrete being floated flat using a big blue magnesium float with long handles

The facing brick now being built to the external wall of the new extension, the visqueen under the concrete floor was built into the wall as the work progressed to stop the ingress of any dampness

Everywhere is kept clean and tidy at all times

The external brickwork nearly built up to the floor level

The external brickwork and internal block work build up to the height of the timber wall plate

A heavy duty lintol is installed above the Bi Fold doors to take the weight of the roof and the 5 panel Bi Fold doors

The heavy duty galvanised steel lintol is inserted into a slot cut into the existing wall, this was considered the best option so the existing blue brick was not disturbed as they are now obsolete

The facing brickwork is now completed and the roof trusses installed, the sky lights fitted gutter and facia board also completed

The 5 panel Bi Fold doors fitted and glazed, the plastering completed and the walls are now painted

The roof is now completed and all the stepped lead flashing and hip tiles fixed in place

A mowing strip was bedded on concrete and haunched in place around the edge of the lawn using Fairstone driveway setts and pointed using Weatherpoint 365

A new lawn was laid to the rear garden using Rolawn medallion top quality turf

Everything is now completed just got to lay the Marshalls Fairstone golden sand multi king size paving

The Marshalls Fairstone driveway Setts cut to shape and bedded on a 4:1 semi dry concrete mix, just needs the eclipse granite border and this path will be complete

The path and steps all completed using Fairstone driveway setts and the bull nose Fairstone step units are all cut to shape and bedded onto the new curved walls

All the Fairstone king size paving is now cut to shape and bedded down into a 4:1 mix concrete bed

The windows and doors installed to the extension and work started on the Staffordshire blue brick risers for the steps

New block paving manhole covers installed to the correct height prior to the MOT Type 1 hard core being put in place and compacted using a vibrating plate

New retaining brick walls are constructed for the change in levels within the patio

New curved retaining brick wall which is capped off using Marshalls Fairstone golden sand multi bull nose step units

Staffordshire blue brick risers for the steps are completed and the remaining area filled with a semi dry concrete mix ready for the Fairstone Driveway Setts to be bedded into place

The Fairstone Driveway Setts cut and bedded down into a semi dry concrete mix

The Fairstone bull nose step units being cut to shape and fixed to the new retaining walls

A circular brick planter was constructed around the existing palm tree and the Fairstone golden sand multi bull nose step units are now all cut to shape and fixed in position

The Fairstone Driveway setts cut and placed in position and the Eclipse granite cut to shape and bedded prior to pointing using Marshalls Weatherpoint 365

The paving to this section of the garden is now completed including the mowing strip to the edge of the new lawn using Fairstone Driveway Setts
