New Government Legislation for Front Gardens

From October 2008, the Government changed the rules. It now requires homeowners in England to request planning permission from their local authority if they want to pave their front garden with an impermeable material such as block paving, asphalt or concrete.

Don't Worry!
Planning permission is only needed if you are planning to EXTEND the size of your existing driveway to include the garden area. Planning permission is NOT required if the driveway is going to remain the same size or if you use a porous or permeable product which will reduce flooding and its subsequent damage.

IF you are changing the size of your paved area applying for planning permission can take up to 8 weeks.
